About

Michelle Neyrey

Teacher, Presenter, Curriculum Writer…

Born and raised in Louisiana. Because of hurricane, Katrina my family and I moved to Texas. I have been an educator for over twenty years in both private and public school. I have created curricula that has been applied to the classroom and differentiated for the varying levels of students. I have taught eighth grade U.S. History and seventh grade Texas in Texas since August 2006, including Honors-Gifted and Talented, Co Taught and on-level classes. Prior to that, I taught fifth through eighth grade students in a private school in Louisiana for seven years. Teaching assignments there included History, Reading, Bible and Art. The History classes included World Cultures, U.S. History, and Louisiana History.

I feel if students experience history through various learning activities, then they are more likely to actively participate in civic responsibilities as adults. I enjoy writing curriculum as well as creating strategies that work in the classroom, and sharing them with other teachers and students.
In Louisiana and Texas I have sponsored various organizations and clubs, I organize speakers to come into our schools as field experiences for our students and organize projects and competitions for the District. I have written and won grants to bring heightened engagement to the classroom through technology. I was named teacher of the year for the school at two different campuses in 2014 and in 2017. I was named the Social Studies Supervisor of the year for the state of Texas in 2019. For the past six years I have presented to hundreds of teachers at the National, State, Regional and local level. I also mentor teachers throughout the school year with lessons. My focus is writing curriculum and differentiate curriculum for a variety of learners.

The more I teach History the more passionate I have become engaging students with curricula designed for all learning styles and levels of learners. I receive enjoyment working with students as well as teachers. I am committed to enhancing their academic experience and making it an enjoyable and successful one.
